The That Lucky Mama Research

Introduction

I believe every parent has the right to education and decision on their children’s health. Here are some resources and research about some of the uncommon health concerns we encountered along the way.

This all started because I questioned vaccines and why they might affect kids with down syndrome and I was met with a lack of information. For me, the research behind the difference in typical / Down Syndrome children’s blood brain barrier and heavy metals storing in the brain was new, unexpected, information.

I hope this collection assists you in making informed and confident health decisions for your family and advocating accordingly. Disclaimer, I am not a medical professional.

Blood Brain Barrier Permeability

People with Down syndrome have a permeable blood brain barrier (BBB). This is caused by the over expression of MiR-155. The upregulation of MiR-155 degrades the BBB. This means that vaccine adjuvants like aluminum and other toxins can pass through to the brain causing neuron and cell death, seizures, etc.

Study : MiR-155 is over expressed in DS

Vaccines Not Designed With Down Syndrome in Mind

Children with genetic susceptibilities like Down syndrome are disproportionally affected by adverse effects in a 'one-size-fits-all' immunization schedule. How will these people be protected from developing a vaccine-induced auto-immune diseases like insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, autoimmune thyroid disorders, alopaecia, vitiligo, hypoparathyroidism, coeliac disease, etc.which are common ailments for elders with DS. I often use the phrase “is the hole worth the dig” and I find it holds extreme weight when contemplating long-term health for individuals with down syndrome.

Acetaminophen Can Cause Toxicity

there is research to show and support that acetaminophen administered during labor and to children with Down syndrome can cause disruptions in glucose processing in the liver which results in toxic bI products.

Dr. Peirson Down Syndrome Blog

The link below is for the research culminated by Dr. Pierson. If there are any specific Down Syndrome health topics, she’s likely to have information here or elsewhere on her website.

”In 2007, Dr. Peirson gave birth to her son, Miles. Four days later, after a stay in the neonatal intensive care unit, he was diagnosed with Mosaic Down syndrome. The lack of practical guidance she received from specialists at the time launched her on a deep personal and professional journey. Since then, she has dedicated her life to understanding Down syndrome from every angle, through genetics, epigenetics, the microbiome, neurological development, endocrine function, and individualized nutritional and biochemical support, and to sharing that knowledge with other families.

Today, Dr. Peirson empowers parents and caregivers with the tools and information they need to help their children thrive. Her practice blends the best of conventional medicine with the depth of naturopathic insight, always grounded in compassion and a personal commitment to the children she serves.“
